My View: New Mexico

I just got back from an amazing trip in New Mexico! It was my first time there and I wasn't sure what to expect. I certainly didn't expect to fall in love with it, and that's exactly what happened. I visited the Northern part - spending some time on a retreat in the Sandia Mountains followed by a visit to Santa Fe, Taos, Ojo Caliente, and Abiquiu. Here is a small sampling of the thousands of photos I took. Everywhere you look is amazing beauty!

After my retreat my husband joined me for a few days of exploration. We stayed at Ojo Caliente to enjoy the hot springs and relax. From there we did day trips and some amazing hikes!

I've always wanted to visit a Pueblo since learning about them in grade school. I grew up in Maine and this type of village is completely foreign to anything I had ever seen. Finally, my dream came true. The Taos Pueblo is still inhabited by the Red Willow People and we met some of the nicest, most welcoming folks there! The city of Taos itself was also magical. Nestled in the southern tip of the Rockies and like everywhere in New Mexico, the mixture of cultures is evident.

Abiquiu is the land of Georgia O'Keefe. I couldn't be so close and not visit her home / studio. In Santa Fe we also visited the Georgia O'Keefe museum, which was great, but the home is so very special. The views from her home were breathtaking as was the adobe structure itself. I can see why she was so drawn to this magical place. We were not allowed to take pictures inside, but I certainly felt her presence there as we toured the interior.

I have to say, I mostly wore my yoga clothes and sneakers the entire time. We spent a lot of time hiking in the dusty red dirt! It was so much fun! Here I am though in one of my favorite vintage dresses before dinner at the Ojo Caliente Resort & Spa. I had to get one shot in!

The Land of Enchantment certainly enchanted me! I can't wait to return!
