Hello everyone! I haven't posted here in a while because I've been busy updating the site and refocusing the shop to be strictly vintage. I have sent this update to my newsletter subscribers, and then I realized that so many of my blog readers follow this blog on bloglovin' (or the blog reader of their choice) and may have missed out on my new direction. So here I am to let you know that A. I am still here! and B. I am slowly taking my handmade items out of the shop (via this CLEARANCE SALE). This doesn't mean that I am no longer sewing or knitting, I am and I have refocused that side of me in a new blog; Atelier de LaPorte. If you've been a fan of the My Project posts that I have posted in this blog, they will now be found on my new site with more handmade wardrobe posts coming. If you're a maker, I am also sharing free patterns, tutorials, and where I am teaching! And handmade items are available for sale there. On this blog, I will be continuing on with the Fashionable History posts that I LOVE writing!
Believe it or not, this blog started in 2008 on Blogger and the Fashionable History posts have been some of my most popular. I have recently imported many of my favorite archived posts and have more to come, so have a look and catch up! Bobbins posts will about designers, fashion trends over the years, silhouettes, and design. Bombshells posts are about the style icons and inspirations that keep my vintage passion alive. And then of course my super popular By Decade series are there as well. I resisted separating out these two sides of me for a long time because I thought it would be more work, and I really wanted to find a way to stay united- "this is me" kind of thing. Over time, and now that I work on my businesses full time, I have realized that for them to grow they must be on their own paths. They started developing their own personalities and should be separate. In other words, the woman in me that loves Old Hollywood glamour may confuse a like minded customer if there are handmade wool hats in the shop. I can now explore my loves in way that gives them more room. So, I hope you stay on for the ride! Join which ever seat you enjoy best. There is certainly room for you in both! xx, Karen
